James: A TRUST-IN-GOD (COMPLETELY) FAITH

DATE: October 18 , 2020

Summary: Do you trust in God, completely? It’s not an easy question… but maybe it will be easier when you realize what is “in you” when you are IN CHRIST. Today, we see that a PRESERVING FAITH is TRUST-IN-GOD (COMPLETELY) FAITH.

WHAT DO WE NEED?

Do you have a preserving faith or a pretending faith?

PRESERVING FAITH INDICATORS:

  • A maturing, living, blessing, peace-cultivating, humble faith

WHAT DO WE SEE?

Preserving faith indicator

#1: A preserving faith is a maturing faith

#2: A preserving faith is a living faith

#3: A preserving faith is a blessing faith

#4: A preserving faith is a peace-cultivating faith

#5: A preserving faith is a humble faith

#6: A PRESERVING FAITH IS A TRUST-IN-GOD (COMPLETELY) FAITH

(Gospel-influenced) “humility is honestly assessing ourselves in light of God’s holiness and our sinfulness

-“Humility” by C.J. Mahaney

James 4:13-14

The Gospel doesn’t just save us, it reconciles us

Colossians 1:15-23

WHAT CAN WE LEARN?

It’s not what you have that makes you blessed,

it’s what you do

with what you have

once you realize you have it

that makes you blessed

What will you do with riches of the hope you have IN CHRIST?

WHAT CAN WE DO?

How do we practice a TRUST-IN-GOD faith?

  • PRIORITIZE GIVING
  • GIVE GENEROUSLY
  • GENEROUSLY PROGRESS

When we focus on the richness of the hope the Gospel brings us

and the more we practice TRUST-IN-GOD (completely) faith

it becomes easier for us and others to see the hope the Gospel offers them

and it nudges them to TRUST-IN-GOD more completely

Romans 15:13-14
